The pair belongs to the established French garden-ornament tradition of cast cement and concrete animal sculpture produced for exterior architectural and landscape settings during the mid-century period.

Each figure is cast as a substantial solid garden sculpture with simplified modelling concentrated through the elongated necks, rounded bodies, folded wings and integrated pedestal-like feet. The treatment is deliberately restrained rather than anatomically detailed, relying upon silhouette, posture and mass to distinguish the two birds. Their related proportions and modelling indicate production as a complementary pair or within the same sculptural form family.

The concrete surfaces retain extensive naturally developed outdoor weathering rather than a renewed painted finish. Mottled cream, grey and ochre tones are interspersed with darker areas of mineral deposition and established lichen and moss staining. Surface abrasion, discoloration and irregular patination are consistent with prolonged exterior exposure and remain intentionally preserved. The weathered surface records the porous character of the cast material and creates considerable tonal variation across the bodies, necks and bases.
