Striking 1960s Murano Sommerso art glass ashtray attributed to Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d’Arte, featuring a rich cobalt blue interior layered with golden amber and encased in substantial clear glass.
The architectural rectangular form features two decorative angled facet cuts on opposite sides, beautifully emphasizing the depth, color and optical effects of the Sommerso technique. The deeply recessed rounded interior contrasts with the crisp geometric exterior, creating a particularly sculptural profile from every angle.
A substantial example of Italian Mid-Century Modern Murano glass, equally beautiful displayed as an ashtray, catchall, vide-poche or decorative art glass object.
