Pulcinella is a character from 17th century Italian theatre (Commedia Dell'arte). He is typically masked and at the bottom of the social class—yet is cunning. Always striving to increase his value in society, uninhibited by fear, paradoxical, and a bandwagoner. True to physcial form, this hand painted Pulcinella has a long, curved, bird-looking beak for a nose, hooking over his mouth.
From the pottery of the Mannella Brothers
Made on the volcanic island Ischia in Italy by this historic family pottery dating back to the early 1500s. Because of the size of the piece, one can presume that as a tourist, it was not easy to bring this back to the US on a commerical airline, thus it is probably more rare of an item in North America, simply due to the size.
Weighing eight pounds, this piece has braided wire already attached for hanging.
