Description:
Presenting a magnificent and highly decorative vintage Chinese hardwood altar shrine (or display throne). Crafted from dense, richly grained Rosewood (Burmese Padauk) with a beautiful, deep reddish-brown patina, this shrine is perfect for displaying a small Buddha statue, a porcelain vase, or a jade carving.

The shrine features a classic "mountain" shaped backrest and armrests. The backrest is exquisitely adorned with Mother-of-Pearl and stone inlay, depicting two vibrant pink lotus flowers (青莲) surrounded by scrolling vines. A sliding tray extends from the front, which is also inlaid with a matching lotus motif, providing a perfect altar surface. The base features a classic tiered design with shaped aprons.

Condition: Excellent condition. The wood is solid and sturdy with a beautiful natural patina. All mother-of-pearl inlays are present and secure. The sliding tray functions smoothly.
