Description:
Presenting a magnificent and highly decorative vintage Chinese hardwood handled box. Crafted from dense, richly grained Huali Rosewood with a beautiful, warm reddish-brown patina, this chest features a classic tiered design with a central carrying handle.
The most striking feature is the exquisite carving at the ends of the handle, depicting a pair of elephants (symbols of peace, strength, and good fortune). The middle tier features delicate reticulated (openwork) geometric fretwork railings. The base contains two smooth-sliding drawers, each fitted with a traditional brass pull. The stand is built using traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery.
Condition: Excellent condition. The wood is solid and sturdy with a beautiful natural patina. All carved details are crisp and fully intact. The drawers slide smoothly. Minor surface wear and slight oxidation to the hardware, consistent with age and use. No structural damage. Please refer to all photos for exact condition.
