Description:
Presenting a magnificent and highly decorative vintage Chinese hardwood box set. Crafted from dense, richly grained Huali Rosewood with a beautiful, warm reddish-brown patina, this piece features a unique design of three separate, hinged rectangular boxes joined together, allowing for organized storage of jewelry, seals, or small treasures.
The most striking feature is the meticulous, all-over carving (满工) adorning both the lids and the sides. Set against a dense, intricate "swastika" (卍) brocade ground, the panels are exquisitely carved in relief with classic "Antiques" (博古图) motifs—elegant vases, incense burners, scrolls, and ruyi scepters—symbolizing scholarly refinement and good fortune. Each lid is fitted with a small cast brass pull.
Condition: Excellent condition. The wood is solid with a beautiful natural patina. All carved details are crisp and fully intact. The lids open and close smoothly.
