A distinctive vintage Lillian August Collection leather library chair combining English-inspired styling, carved hardwood details and an expressive palette of navy, smoky blue and silver-gray.
Originally dark navy, the leather has developed substantial fading from age and light exposure, creating softly blended tonal variations across the back, arms, seat and sides. Protected areas retain deeper navy, giving the chair its striking ombré appearance. This coloration developed over time and is not an original factory finish.
The warm brown hardwood frame features sweeping arm supports with carved scroll terminals, a broad molded seat rail and turned front legs with brass-toned cup casters. Individually applied brass nailheads add tailored definition, while the tall upholstered back, padded arms and removable boxed seat cushion provide comfortable support.
Retaining two original Lillian August Collection labels beneath the frame, the chair is estimated to date from the late 1990s–early 2000s. The precise model is unknown.
An inviting accent for a fireside reading corner, library or collected study, it pairs beautifully with aged brass, dark woods, faded rugs and equestrian artwork. The leather remains intact, and the frame is structurally stable; extensive fading is the principal condition characteristic.

There … moreGood vintage condition with substantial, naturally developed fading to the original dark navy leather. The leather remains intact throughout. There are no tears, cracks, punctures, peeling, missing areas or other leather damage. The upholstery seams, piping and attachment points remain secure. The removable seat cushion retains its general shape and remains comfortably supportive. The chair’s defining condition characteristic is its extensive fading. The original dark navy leather has naturally transitioned into a distinctive spectrum of silver-gray, smoky blue, weathered slate and surviving navy. The tonal variation is visible across the back, arms, cushion, sides and rear of the chair. The fading resulted from age and light exposure. It is not represented as an original factory ombré finish or a later intentional dye treatment. Natural leather grain, gentle creasing and variations in sheen are visible and consistent with a vintage leather chair. Apart from the fading and normal signs of age, no damage to the leather or chair was observed. The exposed carved hardwood frame presents beautifully and retains a warm, lustrous finish. The carved details remain crisp, and no cracks, breaks, major chips, loose joints, structural losses or repairs were observed. The brass nailheads remain intact and aligned, with age-appropriate patina and finish variation. The brass-toned front casters also retain normal patina associated with age.
