Purchased from the corporate … Read more This is a cherry wood Statton Furniture Wainscot Bed (item/pattern: 1520) in its trademark Centennial finish. Purchased from the corporate headquarters and workshop in Hagerstown, MD, in May 2007, this bed serves as a majestic statement piece in contrast to the more delicate poster-style frames commonly found on the market.

With headboard posts standing nearly six feet high and a tall, dramatic, paneled headboard and footboard, this piece features the scale required in larger, high-ceilinged bedrooms to act as the focal point without being overwhelmed by rich wall colors, large dressers, or other substantial furniture such as highboys. Its generous dimensions and solid footing command the room.

Featuring a rich cherry finish and a classic, masculine design, this bed pairs seamlessly with American Colonial furniture from Chippendale to Queen Anne. Given its trim details, it can — with the right complementary finishes — also integrate into styles such as Gothic, William and Mary, or Tuscan.

The bed has been used almost continuously by the original owners for nearly two decades. While well-preserved, it exhibits the natural signs of a life well lived.
