The skull is richly … Read more Exceptional vintage Himalayan/Tibetan-style decorative ram skull featuring dramatically curved natural horns and extensive hand-applied metal ornamentation. The skull is richly embellished with embossed and repoussé-style metal plaques, miniature skull motifs, decorative bands, stylized ears, dimensional eyes and an inset red cabochon accent at the forehead.
The sculptural combination of natural material and elaborate metalwork creates a powerful ceremonial appearance associated with Tibetan and Himalayan decorative traditions. Kapala-related objects have a long association with Tibetan Buddhist and Hindu tantric ritual culture, although without documented provenance I would describe this particular piece as “Kapala-style” rather than claiming it was actually used ceremonially.
