Scandinavian-made birch stool from the 1950s, featuring a square top with rounded corners, slightly splayed legs, and turned crosspieces.
Compact proportions and essential construction characterize this Scandinavian birch stool, dating back to the 1950s. The nearly square seat is softened by rounded corners, revealing the natural variations in the grain and knots of the wood. Four tapered legs, slightly tilted outward, define a slender frame, complemented by turned crosspieces with a delicate central bulge. The design thus combines simple geometries and softer details, in keeping with a typical mid-20th-century Scandinavian design language, which focused on functionality and enhancing the material.
