The large architectural shape is particularly striking, with a pointed central arch framed by sweeping rounded sides and a moulded, stepped border. The decoration is hand-painted with a beautifully stylised symmetrical floral design, centred by a tall pink rose with scrolling stems, rosehips and delicate green foliage.

The border is picked out in warm ochre, muted mauve and soft pink, with a continuous arrangement of small flowers and leaves. Its restrained palette and flowing botanical ornament are characteristic of the decorative tastes of the Art Nouveau period, while the unusual shaped form gives the piece considerable presence when displayed on a wall.

The reverse bears the Minton globe and crown factory mark and retains a later wire wall-hanging support, which is removable when used as a tray.

A highly decorative piece of antique English Minton, particularly appealing as wall decor and equally attractive incorporated into a collection of antique and decorative ceramics.

Condition:
Good antique decorative condition with age-related wear. There is overall fine crazing to the glaze, a few small areas of discolouration and some wear/loss to the painted decoration around the outer rim. Two fine old hairlines are visible from the reverse.
