The sitter is seated, wearing a dark dress with a prominent collar and white lace or ruff, set against a somber, tenebrist background. The work is notable for its subtle psychological insight and the delicate details of the face and the textures of the clothing. It is housed in an imposing period frame, lavishly decorated with rocaille, floral motifs, and gilt relief scrolls, lending the piece a striking presence. Original inscriptions remain on the stretcher on the back. See less
