Original vintage optical illusion print titled “Gossip” with the subtitle “And Satan Came Also,” after the work of American illustrator Geo. A. Wotherspoon. This striking symbolic image is one of Wotherspoon’s best-known compositions, using the negative space created by a circle of gossiping women to reveal the hidden face of Satan—a powerful visual commentary on rumor, slander, and human nature.
Published by Art-Lore, Inc., New York, with House of Art, N.Y. copyright, this early 20th-century print exemplifies the popularity of illusion art and moral allegory during the era. The reverse retains the original Fried’s Gift Shop, 1437 Welton Street, Denver, Colorado retailer label, providing an interesting piece of local retail history. framed .
