Mahogany ? chest with three glass enclosed display shelves above.. Three large drawers below. Two false drawers above fold down into a desk. It was considered a "butler's desk" - utilitarian but elegant. Nineteenth century as far as I know. It was purchased in the 1950's from Marshall Fields antique division.
It has been well cared for by a single owner since then. One pane of glass has been cracked for 50 years.
