The artwork is based on the "I'm getting a permanent wave!" 1920s Postcard from the "saucy seaside" comic postcard series by artists like Donald McGill. which can be seen in the last photo.

Thomas Suriya is a self-taught artists originating from Northern California. His piece You Are A Star is his first mural. He shifted his interests in the 90’s and perused a career in graphics, making effects for film and television. He is famous for his 1983 Hollywood Stars Mural at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Wilcox Avenue a vision of a movie theater but in reverse, with the stars looking out at the world which is a projection.
