Cambridge No. 1338 features an exuberant stepped silhouette with sweeping scrolls, scalloped bases and graduated candle cups. This pair is decorated with Cambridge’s E761 Valencia etching, introduced in 1933 and distinguished by finely rendered latticework, floral ornament and tied bow motifs.

These examples retain the early crosshatched textured knops found on the first version of the No. 1338 form. Original gold decoration highlights the candle rims, scrollwork and molded contours of the bases, creating an elegant contrast against the clear crystal and frosted etching.

The pair makes an especially beautiful statement on a dining table, mantel or buffet and works equally well in traditional, Hollywood Regency and collected eclectic interiors.

Original vintage condition with scattered wear to the gilt decoration consistent with age and use. The selective gold treatment was part of the original decoration and was not intended to cover the entirety of the etched design.
