Description:
Presenting a magnificent and highly decorative vintage Chinese hardwood box. Crafted from dense, richly grained Huali Rosewood with a beautiful, warm reddish-brown patina, this box features a hinged lid and a clean, unlined interior, making it perfect for storing jewelry, tea, or small treasures.
The most striking feature is the exquisite Mother-of-Pearl inlay adorning the lid. It depicts a charming scene of two colorful birds perched on a blooming peony branch, surrounded by butterflies, rendered in shimmering white shell with vibrant, iridescent abalone shell accents. The corners of the lid feature delicate inlaid floral sprigs. The front is fitted with an ornate, heavy cast brass lock plate, and the back features two brass hinges.
Condition: Excellent condition. The wood is solid with a beautiful natural patina. All mother-of-pearl inlays are present and secure. The lid opens and closes smoothly. Minor surface wear and slight oxidation to the hardware, consistent with age and use. No structural damage. Please refer to all photos for exact condition.
