She … Read more Lily Schor is a longtime ceramic artist and sculptor known for both functional pottery and expressive clay face sculptures. She began working in clay in the late 1960s after studying at the Brooklyn Museum and later trained with noted ceramic artists including Karen Karnes and Ruth Berelson.

Her earlier work focused on wheel-thrown functional pottery — bowls, vases, serving pieces — often influenced by Asian brush painting traditions. Later, she became especially known for handbuilt sculptural works featuring serene human faces emerging from clay forms and large outdoor ceramic sculptures.

She helped found the Hudson River Potters organization in Westchester County and has taught at several regional studios including Pottery on Hudson and Lakeside Pottery. She has also been associated with the Blue Door Art Center.

This set includes a creamer and sugarbowl with lid---- 3 pieces and is an excellent example of Lily Schor's studio functional pottery with brushwork decoration. The speckled flat stoneware glaze has delicate.floral brushstrokes, the handle of the pitcher is large enough to grab comfortably, the lid on the sugar bowl is easy to lift and both pieces are fully glazed inside.
