This charming mid-century landscape captures a tranquil Scandinavian waterfront scene. The composition centers on several small wooden rowboats and skiffs resting along a grassy shoreline and simple dock structures, while a gently rising hillside in the distance is dotted with red cottages, a pale yellow house, and clusters of mature trees. The painting is signed and dated lower right, "Sven Hellström 1957." The colors are comprised of soft, muted palette of pale blues, sage and olive greens, warm golden ochres, lavender-gray tones, and touches of terracotta red. It is presented in a classic gilt wood frame with molded stepped profiles and a warm gold finish, complemented by a natural linen mat and a slim inner liner. Note that the linen mat that shows visible water staining and discoloration, particularly along the upper and lower margins; the frame exhibits minor age-appropriate wear with scattered losses to the gilt finish.
