Stunning, heirloom-quality 2-piece bedroom chest set crafted by the renowned Kindel Furniture Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Known for their bench-made artistry and high-end historical reproductions, Kindel pieces represent the absolute finest in classic American furniture manufacturing. This matching set is constructed from beautiful solid wood. Both pieces feature striking design elements from the Georgian and Chippendale eras, including elegant rope-twist molded corner columns, classic ogee bracket feet, and original antiqued brass hardware. The drawers feature high-quality dovetail joints and wooden glides that slide smoothly. This is a heavy, exceptionally well-made set built to last generations.
Piece 1: Low Double Dresser (Chest of Drawers)
Features: A versatile low chest configuration. The top tier features a split drawer illusion layout, followed by three expansive full-width drawers below. Perfect as a primary bedroom dresser or a media console.
Piece 2: Tallboy / High Chest of Drawers
Features: A commanding 6-tier vertical chest offering maximum storage with a minimal footprint. The unique drawer configuration includes a divided top design, followed by deep, graduated stacking drawers below.
Single-Family Ownership: This rare set has lovingly remained in the exact same location and room for at least two generations. It has never been shuffled through multiple moves or exposed to harsh storage conditions, which is why the wood and structure have stayed so well-preserved over the decades.
The inside-drawer stamp featuring the silhouette profile of George Washington accompanied by the "CUSTOM FINISHED" heat stamp was used by the Kindel Furniture Company primarily from the late 1930s through the late 1940s.
Primary Wood: Premium Solid Mahogany and Mahogany Veneers.
Interior Wood: Solid Oak / Cedar drawer linings with fine dovetail joinery.
Finish: Original mid-century dark mahogany lacquer finish with a natural aged patina.
