A magnificent and tender graphic work from renoir’s late period, maternité, grande planche ranks among the artist’s most famous and sought-after lithographic achievements. The composition depicts his wife, aline charigot, nursing their infant son, jean renoir—who would grow up to become the legendary french filmmaker—originally inspired by an iconic 1885 oil painting ref.
