Two vases that are clearly related, yet each possesses its own distinct character. These ceramic vases were produced by Spara Schamotte Keramik in West Germany and bear the model numbers 615/25 and 617/28.
The surface plays a leading role in the design. The light base is built up with dark, almost graphically applied structures and a strongly palpable relief. Geometric motifs are raised on the ceramic and alternate with round accents in rust brown, cream, and blue. It is this latter color accent, in particular, that gives the second vase a subtly different appearance, while form and decoration ensure that the two complement each other beautifully.
The different silhouettes reinforce this interplay. Model 615/25 has a straight cylindrical shape with a pronounced neck, while model 617/28 narrows towards the top and has a softer-shaped opening. Together, they create a strong composition in which the graphic character of the decoration is fully showcased. Both models are attributed to Halidun Kutlu, who was associated with Spara as a designer. The pronounced surface treatment and the combination of relief, geometry, and earthy colors complement the experimental West German ceramics of this period beautifully.
The vases date from the late 1960s to early 1970s and are in lovely vintage condition. We have carefully cleaned both pieces, and they are ready to find a new place in your interior.
