Exceptionally substantial at more than 7 pounds, this vase was cut from a thick crystal blank and decorated with an elaborate all-over pattern of deeply polished mitre cuts, elongated diamond and olive-shaped reserves, starbursts, fan motifs, and dense geometric cross-cutting. The underside is finished with a dramatic multi-point radial star, another hallmark of high-quality Central European cut crystal production.

The form and cutting vocabulary are strongly associated with the historic Poděbrady lead-crystal tradition, one of the most important centers of Czechoslovak crystal production in the postwar period. Sklárny Bohemia Poděbrady was known for finely hand-cut 24% lead crystal made for domestic and export markets.

The vase has tremendous presence: the thick walls, deep cutting, and high lead content create exceptional brilliance and refraction in changing light.

Because no original label or factory mark is present, the vase is offered as attributed to Sklárny Bohemia Poděbrady rather than definitively factory-signed.
