Description:
Presenting a magnificent and highly decorative vintage Chinese hardwood chest. Crafted from dense, richly grained Huali Rosewood with a beautiful, warm reddish-brown patina, this chest features five stacked drawers, making it perfect for storing jewelry, tea, or small collectibles.
The most striking feature is the masterful high-relief carving adorning the two side panels, depicting gnarled plum branches in full bloom—a classic Chinese symbol of resilience, purity, and winter beauty. The front of each drawer is carved with delicate scrolling vine patterns and fitted with aged bronze/iron lock plates and drop pulls. The chest rests on a stepped base with brass corner guards.
Condition: Excellent condition. The wood is solid with a beautiful natural patina. All carved details are crisp and intact. The drawers slide smoothly.
