Description:
Presenting a magnificent and highly decorative vintage Chinese hardwood jewelry cabinet. Crafted from dense, richly grained Zitan/Rosewood with a beautiful, warm reddish-brown patina and dark borders, this chest features an elegant layout: three stacked drawers on the left and a single cabinet door on the right.
The most striking feature is the exquisite Mother-of-Pearl (and semi-precious stone) inlay adorning the top, the drawer fronts, and the door panel. The top surface depicts a charming "Magpie on a Plum Branch" (喜上眉梢) scene, symbolizing good news and happiness. The drawers are inlaid with butterflies and flowers, and the door panel features a bird and peony. The piece is fitted with brass hardware, including handles, hinges, lock plates, and side carrying handles.
Condition: Excellent condition. The wood is solid with a beautiful natural patina. All mother-of-pearl inlays are present and secure. The drawers and door slide smoothly.
