Description:
Presenting a magnificent and highly decorative vintage Chinese hardwood chest. Crafted from dense, richly grained Huali Rosewood with a beautiful, warm reddish-brown patina, this chest features five stacked drawers, making it perfect for storing jewelry, tea, or small collectibles.
The top surface is exquisitely inlaid with shimmering Mother-of-Pearl depicting a charming bird-and-flower scene (a bird perched among peonies with butterflies), flanked by corner floral motifs. The front of each drawer is finely carved with classic scrolling vine patterns. Each drawer is fitted with an aged bronze/iron butterfly-shaped lock plate. The chest features side metal carrying handles and is accented with brass corner guards at the base.
Condition: Excellent condition. The wood is solid with a beautiful natural patina. All mother-of-pearl inlays are present and secure. The drawers slide smoothly. Minor surface wear and slight oxidation to the hardware, consistent with age and use. No structural damage. Please refer to all photos for exact condition.
