Georges Leleu - Artichoke lamps
A pair of 1928-1935 French art deco table lamps by the famous Paris based lighting manufactory of Georges Leleu. He founded the company by the turn of the century. It closed down in the late 30s. Nickel plated bronze or solid brass bases hold globes in clear frosted molded glass representing artichokes. This model shade is never signed yet directly recognizable and represented in numerous Leleu product posters. I show a picture of the Leleu poster published in September 1928 . The catalogs show that this model Artichoke night lamp was produced in two sizes, a 20 cm and a 16 cm high version. The pair of offer is the smaller one.Which is somewhat slimmer and, in my opinion, better proportioned than the larger variant.
The lamps are in very good condition. They are 6.22 inches high (15.8cm). And have a diameter of 4.42"(12.5cm). The bases are newly nickeled. And the lamps and rewired with stylish cloth covered twisted cord. They are equipped with American candelabra base sockets and US 2-prong plugs.
