An elegant vintage console table by John Widdicomb, featuring a richly ornamented Neoclassical design and substantial shaped granite top.
The warm wood base is embellished with extensive gilt classical detailing, including draped swags and tassels across the apron, floral medallions, a prominent central urn motif, and acanthus decoration along the tall tapered legs. The sculpted outline of the top complements the architectural base, while the richly figured brown granite introduces dramatic movement and warm tonal variation.
At 62 inches wide and only 18.625 inches deep, the console offers impressive scale without requiring excessive floor space. Its refined proportions make it particularly well suited for an entry hall, formal living room, dining room, or beneath a large mirror or artwork.
The piece retains its John Widdicomb metal maker’s plaque.
The granite top has undergone restoration following previous chipping and areas of material loss. The affected areas were filled and repaired, and evidence of the restoration remains visible upon close inspection.
