Marianna Van Rossen Hoogendyk (1924-2008) was born in Connecticut to an Iowa native mother and a Dutch father. A 1946 Bennington College graduate, she studied at the Sorbonne in Paris in the late 1950s/early 1960s. She is referenced as an assistant professor of art of the University of Connecticut and was active in the Connecticut art world as an art show judge.

Her name is, of course causes issues in researching her, as she is often referenced without the "Von," and her first name misspelled a variety of ways or as "Rosen." Somehow her last name is usually correct.
