Originally used in a knife factory in Thiers, France, the unit is made from pine and consists of multiple open storage compartments. The compartments are numbered with small brass plates, which remain from its original industrial use.

The open construction makes the piece suitable for use as a freestanding room divider as well as a shelving or display unit. with a depth of only 30 cm, it offers substantial storage and display space while maintaining a relatively narrow profile.

The wood has a naturally aged surface with variations in colour, marks, scratches and other traces of its former use. The shelving unit is in good antique condition with wear consistent with its age and history.
