Painted during the late 1960s in … Read more A 1960s abstract acrylic on canvas painting by the American artist Halim Scott (1925-1997). Painted during the late 1960s in San Francisco, this painting features overlapping, abstract lines and shapes in bright shades of red, blue, orange and pink. Unframed, this piece is signed in the upper left and to the verso.

Robert William "Halim" Scott was born in New York City in 1925, where he grew up and attended the High School of Music and Art in Manhattan. Following his graduation, Scott worked at the J. Walter Advertising Agency before leaving to volunteer for the U.S. Navy during WWII. Following his time in the Navy, he returned to New York to study at the Art Students League, training under the figure painter Robert Brackman. He also attended the Heatherly School of Fine Art in England as well as the California School of Fine Art. Over the course of his career, his work was included in shows in SoHo. He passed away in June of 1997 in Texas. See less
