In the tombstone design, this large wood constructed sign advertised in large hand painted words: Beef, Veal, Pork, Lamb. Each word is painted on an angle and they take prominent place on the plank of wood. On the top is a remnant of the butcher's name: J.A. Walke... Now, taking it another level is the hand carved cleaver on the bottom. Everything is so well thought out and executed. And of course time has done it's portion on it, allowing it to develop a marvelous patina. A superb and unique piece that would stand proud in any serious collection.

We do like to note that we did our best photographing it, and that some of the close up images are over exposed a little, but the true to life ones are the more richly darker ones.
