An elegant and richly colored vintage Chinese hardwood jewelry box, crafted from dark, dense Blood Sandalwood.
The lid is adorned with vibrant polychrome mother-of-pearl inlay depicting a magpie perched on a blossoming plum branch—the classic traditional Chinese motif known as "Magpie on Plum Blossom", which symbolizes the arrival of joy, good news, and happiness.
The front features a traditional aged brass latch, with four red cabochon stones set in ornate brass bezels flanking it.
Additionally, the top corners are decorated with small green stones. The deep, almost black wood grain provides a stunning, stark contrast to the brightly colored inlay. A beautiful piece for storing fine jewelry, keepsakes, or displaying as a decorative object.
