Printed in Paris by Imp. Litho. de Mlle Formentin, the composition is representative of the 19th-century French tradition of occupational and everyday-life studies. The figure is rendered with restrained detail and enhanced with soft, hand-applied color in muted blue, rose, ochre, and gray tones.

The lower portion bears the printed title “Brodeuse,” along with the Paris lithographer’s inscription. A faint artist inscription at lower left appears to read “Sergent del.”, suggesting the original composition was drawn by an artist named Sergent before being transferred to lithographic stone.

Dating to approximately 1840–1865, the lithograph retains the quiet elegance associated with French Romantic and mid-century printmaking. Its generous margins, delicate coloration, and understated subject give the work an appealing decorative quality while preserving its character as an authentic period print.

Presented in a vintage giltwood frame with naturally aged surface patina that complements the warm tones of the antique paper.
