Add exceptional historic character and warmth to your space with this authentic late 19th-century primitive wooden chest. Featuring a beautifully distinct, narrow silhouette, this utilitarian piece was originally handcrafted as a rugged workshop tool chest or specialized transit trunk.
Measuring an impressive 35 inches long by just 9 inches wide, its long, low, and narrow footprint makes it an incredibly versatile design element for modern interiors.
The chest features a clean, traditional six-board construction with straight, true 90-degree sides.
Constructed from thick, solid planks of tightly grained antique pine or fir, the wood boasts a rich, deep honey-brown coloration. It displays a magnificent, authentic patina accumulated over more than a century of honest use, including minor historic paint drops, tool markings, and localized wear that purists look for. The trunk retains its original primitive iron hardware, including robust rear strap hinges, a central wrought-iron hasp latch, and heavy-duty, cast-iron side drop handles designed to withstand heavy loads.
This piece is structurally rock-solid, incredibly sturdy, and perfectly scaled for use as a rustic entryway shoe bench, a unique window seat, blanket storage, or a striking media console accent in a farmhouse, modern rustic, or Americana-styled home.

The lid hinges open smoothly, and the side handles remain tightly secured. The natural wood surface features an abundant antique patina, including surface scuffs, shallow gouges, age-appropriate shrinkage gaps, and remnants of white paint on the top lid. The iron hardware shows beautiful, authentic oxidation and minor surface rust consistent with a late 1800s workshop piece. less
