A vintage hand knotted goat hair rug, ca 1960s. These rugs have been made in from the mohair wool of Angora Goats in the Siirt province in South Eastern Turkey for over a century, where they have been popular as tourist keepsakes. They are handwoven using traditional looms and are often used as blankets, throws or rugs, known for their durability and warmth.
Unique initialed Mohair rug. Mohair rugs were used by nomadic and tribal communities in Turkey as portable floor coverings that could be easily rolled up and carried as families moved from one location to another. These rugs provided warmth, comfort, and a familiar piece of home as these communities traveled and lived a nomadic lifestyle.
