A charming vintage French color reproduction after Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin's celebrated genre painting *La Récureuse*, published in Paris by *L'Illustration* in 1931.

The intimate domestic scene depicts a young servant absorbed in her work, leaning over a wooden tub surrounded by simple kitchen vessels. The quiet composition beautifully reflects the atmosphere for which Chardin became renowned, transforming an ordinary moment of everyday life into an image of remarkable stillness and dignity.

Printed beneath the image is the decorative title cartouche:

“J.-B. CHARDIN – La Récureuse”

together with the inscription:

“Collection H. de Rothschild.”

The image was originally issued as a color plate in the 1931 Christmas edition of the celebrated French illustrated magazine *L'Illustration*.

Presented in an attractive vintage burl-veneered wood frame accented with fine decorative banding and a gilt inner border.

Good vintage condition overall. The paper shows scattered minor foxing, age-related marks, and gentle toning. The frame retains minor wear and small imperfections consistent with age.
