This artwork represents a figure in costume. Ilse Voigt (Chemnitz, 1905 – Magdeburg, 1990). Voigt was an artist, pastellist, illustrator, and drawer. She attended the Fine Arts Academy of Berlin where she took Emil Orlik classes. From 1964, she participated in international collective exhibitions. At the Salon des Indépendants, she became one of the company members. She exhibited in many art galleries in Paris and Switzerland. She painted and illustrated flowers, portraits, Venice street views. Dance and dancers were an incredible source of inspiration for her. She paid homage to several important ballet dancers, such as Mikhail Baryschnikov and Roudolf Noureev, and realized several drypoints, pastels, and drawings for them. In the same way, she realized numerous arworks dedicated to the Extreme Orient. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
