Specimen 1/2 handwritten note in pencil at the bottom. Image Dimensions: 31.5 x 24.5 cm. The artwork represents the mythical creature Nymph, well-known for being with the body of a woman. Félicien Victor Joseph Rops( 1833-1898) was a Belgian artist associated with Symbolism and the Parisian Fin-de Siecle. He was a painter, illustrator, caricaturist, also a prolific and innovative printmaker, particularly in intaglio.Eroticism mixed with mortality and evil themes is one of the most prominent aspects of her work. He is best known for his graphic works, many of which are horror or erotic. Rupes was educated in Brussels. His first drawings were published in the humorous newspaper Crocodile (1855) and Euilenspiegel. He also created watercolors. The praise given to him by writers such as Charles Baudelaire and Yoris Karl Hussman's placed him at the forefront of the decadent school of the late 19th century. He has lived in France since 1878. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
