Striking original abstract painting by Houston-area artist Stanley T. Harris, dated to 1992. The work features a richly layered composition of geometric and organic forms rendered in a sophisticated palette of black, cream, deep oxblood, brown and muted earth tones.
Harris built the surface with pronounced texture and expressive, heavily worked passages, giving the painting a sculptural quality that changes with the light. The strong graphic composition and restrained palette make it particularly well suited to modern, contemporary, Brutalist and eclectic interiors.
Stanley Harris pursued art full-time beginning in the late 1980s after an earlier career in engineering. His abstract work was known for expressive application, warm palettes and a deliberately intuitive approach to composition.
