Exceptional set of four Axel Larsson Model 1522 armchairs for Bodafors, Sweden, dating to the 1930s. Designed by Axel Larsson in the mid-1930s, these sculptural armchairs exemplify the refined craftsmanship and elegant organic forms of early Swedish Modern design.
Each chair features a beautifully shaped, honey-toned wood frame with distinctive sweeping curved armrests, gently tapered legs, and generously upholstered seat and tall, supportive back. The softly textured woven upholstery is complemented by rows of decorative upholstery tacks along the seat and lower back, adding a tailored period detail.
The graceful silhouette and exceptional curved-arm construction give these chairs a particularly sophisticated presence, while their restrained Scandinavian aesthetic allows them to work equally well around a dining table, as occasional lounge seating, or as statement chairs in a collected interior.
Each chair retains its original Bodafors maker's mark, further supporting the attribution to Svenska Möbelfabrikerna, Bodafors.
A rare opportunity to acquire a complete set of four matching examples of one of Axel Larsson's most recognizable early Swedish Modern designs.

The sculptural curved armrests remain intact, with no obvious major structural breaks visible in the photographs. The upholstery is the primary condition issue. The visible fabric is heavily worn and frayed in areas, while the underside upholstery and foundation fabric show extensive deterioration, tears, and separation. **** Reupholstering Needed less
