An exceptional and highly collectible antique Chinese "Official's Chest" (Guan Xiang), meticulously crafted from heavy, deeply grained hardwoods (styled after Huanghuali).
The front panel features stunning, intricate mother-of-pearl inlay depicting phoenixes (symbolizing virtue and grace) amidst blooming peonies (symbolizing prosperity).
The piece is further decorated with scrolling floral borders and features traditional, aged brass hardware including a large central circular lock plate, a rectangular central latch, and protective corner brackets.
Due to its substantial weight (nearly 9kg) and robust construction, it feels very solid and premium. It serves perfectly as a jewelry box, a prominent display object, or a luxurious storage trunk in an elegant interior.
