This is a beautiful vintage Chinese carved wooden jewelry or keepsake box. The lid features an intricate, high-relief carving of a large central "Fu" character, which symbolizes good fortune, blessings, and happiness.
This central character is surrounded by a border of smaller carved stylized "Fu" characters, representing the classic "Hundred Blessings" motif.
The box is crafted from what the original seller identifies as "Little Leaf Red Sandalwood", characterized by its deep, rich reddish-brown hue and prominent, beautiful wood grain. It is secured with a traditional brass latch in the front. This piece is perfect for storing jewelry, small keepsakes, or as a stunning accent piece in an Asian-inspired or eclectic interior.
