Hard resin-like plastic and very strong.

Cubes measure 13.8" square. Drawers are 4" deep. Modular, stackable, and very durable. Perfect for records or office supplies.

This set includes the following: 3 white boxes, 3 brown boxes, 4 square drawers (yellow, white, red, brown), 3 wide drawers (white, red, yellow) with drawer pulls for each drawer.

A little more background on Ristomatti Ratia and the Palaset Palanox modular cubes:
Palaset Palanox, multicolored stackable boxes that allow you to build your own shelf, only produced for a few years in the early 1970s. During his expansive career, Ristomatti Ratia (1941-) has designed almost everything, from clothing to jewelry and pots to coffins. One of his iconic works of modern design is the modular shelving unit from the Palaset collection made of polystyrene. The original colors of the shelves were white, brown, red, green and yellow. Ristomatti Ratia’s idea was to create a custom storage system for homes of different sizes. The cubes could be purchased individually and with a variety of accessories. They were produced by Treston Oy in Turku, Finland for a short period of time in the early 1970s (circa 1972-1973). The oil crisis of the 1970s put an end to the production of these gorgeous pieces.
