An antique silvered bronze betel nut box with a rectangular body, hinged lid, three sectioned interior chambers covered with four … Read more An antique silvered bronze betel nut box with a rectangular body, hinged lid, three sectioned interior chambers covered with four hinged and decorated lids, chamfered upright corners, looped copper side handles and bordered silver inlaid design over a symmetrical floral tendril vine pattern referred to as “the okir pattern”, which is a traditional design for the Maranao people on the Southern Philippines (Mindanao). This box was used for the storage of the betel leaf, areca nut, slaked lime and chewing condiments. No maker’s mark.
