This substantial sculptural piece features a vivid red-orange interior with gold-toned striations suspended within thick clear glass, creating a dramatic sommerso effect. Sommerso, Italian for “submerged,” is a layered-glass technique developed in Murano in the 20th century and especially associated with postwar Italian modernist glass.
