A set of four original hand-pulled linocuts by Saskia Onvlee, acquired directly from the artist's gallery in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, in December 2017.
Onvlee was born in Buenos Aires in 1984 and studied at the Universidad Nacional de Arte before developing her practice at the Grafica p/a workshop. In 2015 she relocated to Todos Santos with Carlos Domin, where the two co-direct La Sonrisa de la Muerte, an independent space devoted to contemporary printmaking. In 2025 they opened La Liebre Press north of town. These four prints date from her early Baja period.
Each is hand-signed in pencil below the image and titled, numbered, and signed again verso:
"Galgo" (greyhound), 4/50
"Conejo" (rabbit), 4/50
"Gato de Monte" (wildcat), 6/50
"Ardilla" (squirrel), 2/50
Bold black-ink animals rendered in a Mexican folk-graphic idiom, each set against a soft hand-painted color field - burnt orange and red, deep green, rose, and teal. Printed on heavy handmade paper with deckle edges left fully visible.
Custom framed in San Francisco by Underglass Custom Framing in light maple, float-mounted with spacers and conservation UV-filtering glass. Wired and ready to hang.
Dimensions: each frame 13 in. W x 16.625 in. H. As a set of four hung with 3 in. gaps, the group spans approximately 61 in.
Condition: excellent. Framed shortly after purchase and displayed indoors away from direct sunlight ever since. Frames and glazing are clean and undamaged.
