As Europe recovered from World War II, master Italian furniture makers found a market in the USA by catering to the interest in French history and decorative arts by Decorators and collectors.

This pair is an unique and exceptional find for two reasons:

1. Rarely seen original caning on the sides is completely intact. Balancing the visual weight of the chair, it is consistent with the intent of the historical design. Upholstering the sides add unnecessary bulk.

2. The original cream and pale green painted finish has aged and is untouched. This distinguishes these chairs from antique or vintage pieces that have been altered with solid paint or gilding, and instantly identifies them as fine furniture rather than contemporary, inexpensive mass produced furniture.

The generous seat, freshly recovered, and the down-wrapped foam seat cushions ensure exceptional comfort for many years. The very pale, soft green low pile, silky velvet fabric is undamaged and clean throughout. The color is subtle and neutral. Easily complimenting many interior color schemes.

The square outer chair backs are upholstered in a faux silk contrast fabric and can very easily be replaced with the original velvet fabric. Additional green velvet yardage is included in your purchase. A very easy task for you or your upholsterer. There is adequate yardage for refreshing the upholstery as time passes.

Two coordinating pillows are included with purchase.
