The scene runs the length of the rug like country seen from a moving cart. Hills of red and brown fold into one another, a wide indigo field scattered with small flowers lies across the middle, and trees stand at intervals throughout — bare-branched almonds, tall flowering cypresses, and one dark red cypress worked in fine detail. Horses, goats, dogs and birds move through the bands in small groups, and every ground carries a strong horizontal abrash, the natural banding of hand-spun yarn dyed in small batches.

Hand-knotted with a full even pile, no wear, no repairs, no odour. Selvedges are intact and both ends finish in the original fringe with coloured tassels. At 32 by 80 inches it suits a hallway, an entry, a galley kitchen or a landing, and the warm red and indigo work in bohemian, eclectic, traditional and warm modern rooms. See less
