"Floral still life is a favorite subject of mine. The fragile, luminous nature of flowers is fascinating. The painting includes a tiny glass vase i found years ago at the University of Chicago, when my sister attended. I felt the fan added another feminine touch and reminds me of my old Chicago roommate, who spent years in Paris." You can see why the artist kept this painting in her studio. The painting is created on a 12x9 birch panel and framed in a gold gilt French style frame. Overall, the framed art measurers 13 and 5/8ths inches by 10 and 5/8ths inches.

Marina Movshina is an American artist known for landscape painting, and for her illustrations of children’s books, as well as her botanicals. Her paintings have been selected for the exhibition of distinguished alumni at Carnegie-Mellon’s Centennial Celebration of its College of Fine Art, the Logan Center at the University of Chicago and the Harlin Museum in West Plains, MO. An elected artist member of the American Artists’ Professional League, New York, NY, she is admired for her skill as a painter and draftsman in the handling of space, depiction of light, and expert use of color. She received a B.F.A. from Carnegie-Mellon University and studied at the Art Students’ League, New York, NY, Washington University, St. Louis, MO, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL. Marina lives in St. Louis, MO.
